Who does the work, and what they are qualified in
Francis — care guidance and clinical review
Francis is a registered mental health nurse and maintains registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. He has 36 years of experience across care homes, hospital wards, home care and care consultancy, including assembling care packages, working with commissioners and social workers, and preparing NHS Continuing Healthcare applications. Francis is responsible for the clinical accuracy of what this site says about care needs and NHS funding.

Samantha — process, accuracy and plain English
Samantha has 20 years of experience in practice and operations management across clinical psychology and care consultancy. She reviews everything we publish for accuracy, structure and plain English, and much of the procedural detail on this site — who to ring, what to ask for, what to put in writing — comes from that experience.

What we are not regulated to do
This matters, so we say it plainly rather than in small print.
- We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not advise on, arrange or recommend regulated financial products — that includes equity release, immediate needs annuities, care fees annuities, investments, pensions and insurance. We can explain how these products work in general terms and what questions to ask. Where you need a recommendation, we introduce you to an FCA-authorised adviser
- We are not solicitors and we do not carry out reserved legal activities. We do not draft or witness lasting powers of attorney, apply to the Court of Protection, conduct litigation or give legal advice. We can explain the process and what a solicitor will need from you, and we can introduce you to one
- We are not a registered care provider. We do not deliver personal care, nursing care or domiciliary care, so registration with the Care Quality Commission does not apply to us. We help you choose and challenge providers; we do not become one
- We are not the NHS, a local authority, or an appeals body. Decisions on NHS Continuing Healthcare and on local authority funding are made by Integrated Care Boards and councils. We help you prepare, evidence and present your case. We cannot decide it and we never promise an outcome
- We take no commission, referral fee, introducer fee or any other payment from care homes, care agencies, insurers, lenders, equity release providers or solicitors
- We do not publish sponsored content and we do not sell advertising space to providers
- We do not sell your data — to anyone, ever
