A structured, in-depth consultation with a registered nurse, followed by a written summary, a personalised resource list and a clear action plan. For families who have moved past “where do we start” and now need to decide something.
This is more than a conversation. The Care Guidance Call is a structured consultation of 60 to 90 minutes, designed so that you finish with a written plan rather than a head full of new information you cannot hold on to.
We explore the situation properly: what has changed, what care needs actually exist, what is already in place and whether it is working, who is involved in the decision, what the money looks like, and what has already been tried. Then we set out the realistic options, explain the trade-offs honestly, and put the recommended next steps in order.
The free 20-minute call is diagnostic. Its job is to work out what is going on and point you in a direction. The Care Guidance Call is the work itself: long enough to go through a complex situation in detail, and it ends with a document. You do not have to have had the free call first, though many people do.
It suits situations where the problem is not a single question but a tangle of them — care needs, money, family disagreement, an imminent hospital discharge, a placement that is not working, or a decision that keeps being postponed because nobody feels informed enough to make it.
It is not a care search: we will explain how to evaluate providers, but building a matched shortlist is the Care Search Consultation. It is not a formal assessment for legal or funding purposes: that is the Care Needs Assessment. And it does not include ongoing case management, although you can come back for further work at any time.
Everything below is included in the fixed fee. Nothing is charged separately.
60–90 minutes exploring needs, preferences, current arrangements, funding position and family circumstances in full.
A personalised written record of the discussion, the options and our recommendations, usually within 48 hours.
Curated signposting to the relevant local and national organisations, benefits, schemes and services for your situation.
Ordered, practical next steps — what to do, who to contact and in what sequence — that you can work through at your own pace.
Get in touch and we agree a time. Tell us in a few lines what the situation is so we can prepare.
We send a short list of things worth having to hand. Nothing is compulsory, but it makes the call go further.
60–90 minutes by telephone or video. Other family members are welcome to join.
The summary, resource list and action plan arrive by email, usually within 48 hours.
If you can, gather the basics before the call: a short history of what has changed and when; any recent hospital or GP correspondence; details of any assessment already carried out by the NHS or the local authority; what care is currently in place and what it costs; a rough picture of savings, property and income; and whether anybody holds a lasting power of attorney or deputyship. If some of that is missing, we will work with what you have.
The written plan is the part families come back to. It is written so that somebody who was not on the call can pick it up and understand it.
“After our Care Guidance Call, I finally felt like someone had listened and actually helped me understand what was possible. I had a plan I could follow.”
Between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on how complex the situation is. We confirm the expected length when you book, and the fee does not change if it runs to the longer end.
Usually within 48 hours of the call, by email. It includes the summary, the resource list and the action plan.
